Cartographer Privacy Policy

This policy covers Cartographer, the free documentation solution VerseBlocks publishes for Microsoft Power Platform. It describes what the software actually does, checked against the code that does it, rather than what a product of this kind usually does.

The short version

Your documentation never reaches VerseBlocks. Every crawl, every summary, every diagram and every search runs inside your own Dataverse environment. There is no VerseBlocks server in that path.
The search model never calls anything. Semantic search runs a small language model bundled inside the solution itself, executing in the Dataverse plug-in sandbox. It makes no network request of any kind, to us or to anyone else. Your questions and your components are not sent anywhere to be searched.
Cartographer does send a usage report: your licence identifier and org ID, which feature ran, how many components were involved, and the display name of the solution you crawled. Counts, and the names of solutions — never the names of components, never summaries, never documentation text.
Activation asks for a name, company and email and registers a free licence. There is no payment and no card, and the licence key is never shown to you because you never need it.
There is no switch to turn the usage report off today. See section 4.

1. Who is responsible for this data

VerseBlocks LLC is the controller for the data described here. Write to admin@verseblocks.com with any question about it, including a request to delete it.

2. What stays inside your tenant

Cartographer's work product never leaves your environment. None of the following is transmitted to VerseBlocks or to any third party:

These are not policy commitments layered over a product that could send them. There is no code path that transmits any of it.

3. The search model makes no network calls

Cartographer's semantic search is powered by a small open-source embedding model, about 22 MB, which ships inside the managed solution as ordinary web resources. When you search, the model is loaded from your own Dataverse and run in the Dataverse plug-in sandbox, on your environment's own compute.

It converts text into lists of numbers so that similar meanings can be compared. It produces no written content, it is not a chatbot, and it contacts no service. There is no AI provider behind Cartographer's search, ours or anyone else's.

4. Usage reporting

Cartographer reports how it is being used, so that VerseBlocks can tell whether a free product is worth continuing to build. A report is sent when a notable action completes: a crawl, an export, a best-practice analysis, a Compass environment-variable change.

The solution display name is the one piece of text you authored that is transmitted. It is sent so we can see, for instance, that people crawl large managed solutions and not only their own. If that matters to you, it is worth knowing before you install.

There is currently no way to turn usage reporting off. Some VerseBlocks products offer a switch; Cartographer does not yet. We would rather say so here than imply a control that does not exist.

5. Activation

Activating Cartographer sends your contact name, company name, email address, your Dataverse organisation ID and your environment URL to VerseBlocks, and registers a free licence in return.

We use it to know who is using the product and to contact you about it — a breaking change, a security issue, or occasionally to ask what you think. We do not sell it and we do not pass it to advertisers.

Cartographer also periodically checks your component count against your licence. That request contains your licence identifier only.

6. How long it is kept

Registration records and usage reports are kept while VerseBlocks publishes Cartographer.

We do not currently promise a fixed retention period, because we would rather not publish a commitment nothing enforces: there is no scheduled deletion job behind these tables today. Ask us to delete your registration and usage records and we will, by hand, and confirm when it is done.

7. Artificial intelligence

Cartographer's documentation is generated deterministically from metadata it reads in your environment. Nothing is written by a generative model.

The solution contains code paths for optional AI enrichment through Microsoft AI Builder or an API key you supply. They are switched off and are not offered anywhere in the interface. If a future version enables them, any resulting call would run on your own entitlement, to a provider you chose, under that provider's terms — and this policy would be updated before that shipped.

8. Sub-processors

The VerseBlocks services that receive the data above run on Microsoft Azure (United States). Microsoft is our only sub-processor for this product. Cartographer sends data to no other third party.

9. Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or ask for a copy. Write to admin@verseblocks.com. Deleting your registration ends your activation, so Cartographer would need reactivating to keep working.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially — particularly if what is transmitted changes — the version and date at the top will change, and material reductions in your privacy will be announced on the product page before they take effect.
