Cartographer uses a simple, per-environment licensing model. Start free and upgrade as your needs grow. All plans include core crawling and documentation features.

How to Activate a License
- 1Purchase a Professional or Enterprise plan at verseblocks.com/pricing
- 2You will receive a license key via email in the format CARTO-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
- 3Open the Cartographer app in your Dataverse environment
- 4Navigate to License & Billing in the sidebar
- 5Enter your license key and click Activate
- 6The license is now bound to your environment — features unlock immediately
Free plan users: No license key needed. Install Cartographer and start using it immediately with 20 components and BYOK AI summaries.
Upgrading and Downgrading
Upgrading
To upgrade your plan (e.g., Free to Professional, or Professional to Enterprise):
- Visit verseblocks.com/pricing and select your new plan
- Complete the checkout — if you have an existing subscription, the change is applied immediately and billing is prorated
- Your license key remains the same — the plan tier is updated automatically
- In Cartographer, the License & Billing page will reflect your new tier within a few minutes
Downgrading
To downgrade your plan:
- Go to the Stripe billing portal (linked from License & Billing in Cartographer, or from your purchase email)
- Select your new plan
- The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period
When downgrading, if your component count exceeds the new plan's limit, existing data is preserved but you will not be able to crawl additional components until you are within the new limit.
Managing Your Billing
All billing is handled through Stripe. You can access the Stripe customer portal to:
- View and download invoices
- Update your payment method
- Change your billing cycle (monthly to annual or vice versa)
- Cancel your subscription
- Add or remove the Hosted AI add-on
Access the billing portal from the Manage Billing button on the License & Billing page in Cartographer, or from the link in your purchase confirmation email.
Hosted AI Add-on
The Hosted AI add-on ($149/month) eliminates the need for your own OpenAI API key. With Hosted AI enabled:
- AI summary requests are proxied through the VerseBlocks API
- No per-token charges — unlimited AI summaries
- No API key management or OpenAI account required
- Available for Professional and Enterprise plans only
Add or remove the Hosted AI add-on from the Stripe billing portal at any time.
