any tableGenerate a PDF from a model-driven app form with one button
The most requested feature in any model-driven app is a button that turns the record on screen into a PDF. Microsoft's own Create PDF command belongs to the Sales app and runs on its Word templates, which brings their limits with it: no conditional sections, a 100-row cap per relationship, no flow trigger. Outside Sales you build a flow, a custom page or a JavaScript web resource, and then you meet a connector's per-document pricing.
VerseDocs adds a Generate document command to any table you tick in its Configuration page. The button lists the templates bound to that table, offers Word, PowerPoint or PDF, and attaches the result to the timeline. It calls the same Dataverse custom API your flows can call, which means the button, the flow and the bulk action all render identically.
Unlimited watermarked use, no time limit. $2,400 a year per tenant removes the watermark.
From record to PDF in 3 steps
Install VerseDocs
From AppSource into the environment. It is a managed solution: custom APIs, the Template Studio app and the command-bar button. No Azure, no app registration.
Enable the table
Administration → Configuration → tick the table. The button appears the next time a form on that table loads. It is off for every table until you turn it on, deliberately.
Add a template and generate
Any template bound to that table shows in the dialog. Users pick the template and the format and the file is on the timeline in a few seconds.
Start from a starter
Any of the six starter templates can be the first one on your table; the case summary and letter patterns adapt to almost any custom table by changing the bound table and the token prefixes.
Tokens in the template
Which tables show the button (Configuration page): ["quote", "incident", "account", "new_inspection"] What the user sees on the form: Generate document → template picker → Word / PowerPoint / PDF → attached to timeline
Paste any of this into the template playground with the sample data to see it render in your browser.
- Do users need a licence each?
- No. VerseDocs is licensed per Microsoft tenant, not per user. Every user with the VerseDocs user security role can generate from any enabled table.
- Does the button need a Power Automate premium licence?
- No. The button calls a Dataverse custom API directly from the form. No flow runs, so no connector licence is involved.
- Can the button be limited to certain users?
- Yes. The command respects the user's Dataverse privileges on the record and on the VerseDocs template table, so security roles control who can generate.
Rendered in your tenant. Priced per tenant.
VerseDocs is a managed solution of Dataverse plug-ins. Templates, field values and generated files stay in your environment. Try every feature free with a watermark; one licence key removes it for every environment, user and document in the tenant.
